Entry requirements
- GCSE Spanish Grade 6 or above (or equivalent).
Course content
AQA A level Spanish, (7692)
Year 12 Themes: Modern and traditional values, Cyberspace, equal rights, Modern day idols, Spanish regional identity, cultural heritage
Year 13 Themes: Multiculturalism in Hispanic society, Aspects of political life in the Hispanic world. Literary text and film
We will organize study trips to major Spanish cities such as Barcelona and Valencia where we will take part in language courses, home stays and cultural trips.
How will I be assessed?
- Listening, reading and responding to texts (50%)
- Written response to a literary text and a film (20%)
- Discussion of a stimulus card and Presentation and discussion of an individual research project (30%)
Future opportunities
The ability to speak a second language has huge advantages in the job market. Spanish is the second most widely spoken in the world with over 460 million native Spanish speakers. You’ll find that you can use your Spanish skills in many unrelated fields but specific careers with languages include areas such as Business, International Relations, Finance, Travel & Tourism, Education, Translation, Marketing, Government & Entrepreneurship.
