This week, we were fortunate to have visitors from The British Army, who put all of our Year 10 students through their paces with some team building and resilience challenges. Students were challenged to complete the giant Buzz Wire (three students had a steady enough hand to do this!), as well as work together to transport themselves, and some equipment across “alligator infested” swamp water, using only barrels and planks of wood. Although run by the British Army, the activities encouraged teamwork, leadership, co-operation, resilience and problem solving, which are all skills that are required in any workplace.
Once all students had been given the opportunity to participate in the challenges, the Army Education Liaison Team delivered a presentation about different routes into the British Army, as well as the different roles within that specific aspect of the Armed Forces. Students were very surprised to learn that there was much more to being in the Army than front line combat! If any students are particularly interested in joining the British Army, they will find plenty of information at https://www.army.mod.uk/army-careers/careers/.
