Outstanding Achievement from Mandarin students in National Translation Competition
We are delighted to announce that Daisy W. and Eliyana M., students in 9Op1 Mandarin, have been commended by the judging panel in this year’s Anthea Bell Prize for Young Translators, a prestigious national competition hosted by Queen’s College, University of Oxford.
This is a remarkable accomplishment – the competition received nearly 5,000 entries from over 22,000 participants across the UK, with only a small number of entries selected for commendation.
Daisy and Eliyana’s work involved translating a Chinese poem, and their commendation is a true testament to their creativity, linguistic flair, and keen attention to detail. Their achievement reflects not only their individual dedication, but also the high standard of teaching and learning within our Mandarin department.
We are incredibly proud of their success and the positive representation it brings to our school and wider community. A huge congratulations to both students on this well-deserved recognition!
