Enrichment Week – Bath Trip
Year 9 and 10 students enjoyed a wonderful Austenian and Shellian inspired trip to the city of Bath; we began with a guided tour of the Georgian architecture hosted by the Jane Austen Centre, as well as a ghost tour of the city’s most haunted locations. In the afternoon of our first day, we explored the House of Frankenstein by learning about Mary Shelley’s famous novel and completing an escape room in Victor’s Lair. Our second day had a Roman focus with a special tour of the Ancient Roman Bathhouse: alongside exploring the bathhouse itself, students had the opportunity to interact with Roman artefacts in a learning session which also involved dressing in traditional Roman togas! Day two ended with a private cinema screening of Pride and Prejudice to round off a wholesome residential (and an opportunity to nap for some exhausted students!). All pupils on the trip were an absolute credit to the KWS community and I hope they will join us on our next English Faculty residential to a new literary city location… watch this space!
