Diversity Week in the Library
Diversity Week was a great opportunity for the library to display some of its collection of LGBTQIA+ books, as well as those about various cultures and religions, and those about disabilities. We had a great week, with different activities taking place throughout the week. On Monday, we enjoyed using our Braille Lego, with lots of students dropping by to construct their names and then “read” them by touch alone. There was also the chance to attempt to decode some Braille riddles; it was a tricky task, but lots of fun was had. Tuesday saw the opportunity for some students to colour in some scenes from the hugely popular Heartstopper graphic novel series, while discussing the storyline with others, and on Thursday and Friday it was time for us to display our collection of books showcasing different religions and cultures, for staff and students to browse and enjoy. We all enjoyed the week, and we hope the students that came and visited us during break or lunchtime also got something meaningful from the sessions.
