Library visit from Adisa the Verbaliser

October 8, 2026/in Whole School/by Chrissy Dicks

It’s been a very busy and very enjoyable week in the library. To celebrate National Poetry Day we had a visit from Adisa The Verbalizer (www.adisaworlds.com) who was absolutely fantastic. All of our year 7 students got to watch him perform this poetry, and then 50 lucky students were able to take part in a poetry workshop with him. It was a fantastic day, and we’re very grateful to KWAF for funding this visit. We really hope all the students who met Adisa were inspired by the visit.

This month we are recognising Dyslexia Awareness Month, and one of our wonderful Student Library Assistants, Finley C, suggested we have a dyslexia display in the library. He’s also taken the time to write a piece about dyslexia to read in the school assembly to raise awareness. Well done Finley! We’d encourage everyone to drop by and have a look at the display, to find out more about dyslexia, and to see how the library is supporting our dyslexic readers.

KWS Cinema

October 8, 2026/in Whole School/by Chrissy Dicks

The 16th of October is an incredibly exciting day for the KWS Community, as it will be our first KWS Cinema screening!

The English and Media Faculty are running a KWS Cinema once a half term for all KS4 (Year 10 and 11) and KS5 (Year 12 and 13) students to attend, and this will be our first opportunity to expose our students to famous films from times gone by. It is a great way to spend an afternoon with friends and experience the cinema without breaking the bank.

All the information about our first screening can be found in the promotional poster below.
