Student Leadership Team
Our student leadership opportunities were created to encourage all of our students to have a voice, to help shape and progress their school environment and to get more involved in the areas or subjects in the school they are passionate about.
Obtaining a student leadership position is a great way to develop leadership, communication and teamwork skills. Our student leadership team is made up of 2 Head Students; 3 Deputy Head Students and a team of 27 prefects from Year 10. The Student Leadership Team was appointed at the end of last academic year following a formal application and interview process; and will continue with their respective positions until the end of next academic year (2023/24).
It is the roles and responsibilities of our Student Leadership Team to represent the school, speak in assemblies, lead the school’s fundraising efforts in collaboration with our House Captains, support members of staff, be role models to all students and lead the student voice. As well as these responsibilities, our Student Leadership Team support their fellow students every lunchtime in the following ways:
- Friendship Club for Y7s & 8s: Support any student who is feeling lonely, seeking advice on friendships and making new friends.
- Social Skills Clubs: Support students develop their social skills and be visible safe people around school
- Homework Club: Support younger students with their home learning and independent studies (after school)
- Y7 & 8 Sports: Lead games of football, netball, rugby, basketball for younger students
- Library: Support the Library and students who use, work and socialise in the library
Other responsibilities include:
- Front of House at KW Arts events
- Chair Student Council meetings
- Regular meetings with Mr Smith
- Support staff at Consultation Evenings
- Lead Prospective Staff and Student tours
