Student Leadership Team
Our student leadership opportunities were created to encourage all of our students to have a voice, to help shape and progress their school environment and to get more involved in the areas or subjects in the school they are passionate about.
Obtaining a student leadership position is a great way to develop leadership, communication and teamwork skills.
At the centre of our student leadership team are our head students. The new head student team will be elected from our year 9 students in the autumn term and continue in their respective positions until they leave in year 13. It is the role of the head students to represent the school, speak in assemblies, lead the school’s fundraising efforts, support members of staff and lead the student voice, as well as being a friendly face to all students.

Student council
Each year KWS has an election to nominate a student council member from each form. This student will then represent the forms’ values and opinions by collating their feedback on the various topics presented and discussed at the student council meeting, in addition to raising any other points their form has raised.
Our student council meetings take place every half term. An agenda is circulated before the meeting providing the opportunity for Student Council members to prepare, discuss with their form and add further discussion points to the meeting should they wish. After the meeting minutes are circulated for student council members to feed back to their form, including the actions taken on the topics discussed. Scroll down to see the Student Council meeting minutes from the 2020/21 academic year.
We are looking forward to seeing the exciting new ideas and changes the student council will bring in the coming academic year. If this is an opportunity that interests you then keep an eye out for information in September.
