Fundraising and Charity
Each year at KWS a charity is voted on for the students and staff to focus their fundraising efforts on throughout the year.
2023 / 2024
In 2023/24, we decided to continue to support the Ollie Foundation and Cancer Research UK as our two chosen charities. These charities were important to everyone at the school and we wanted to extend our support for another year. Students ran a variety of events including cake sale, KWS bake off, football tournament and a movie event to collect money for these charities. We also collected donations for the local Food Bank and participated in the Rotary Shoebox Scheme, more details of which can be found at https://www.rotaryshoebox.

2021 / 2022
In 2021/2022 we wanted to raise awareness of both one local and one national charities. At the beginning of the year we collated charities and put these to our student and staff voice, allowing them to vote on which charities we would like to represent as a school. Through this vote it was decided we would represent the following charities; The Ollie Foundation and Cancer Research UK.
The Ollie Foundation
OLLIE is a local charity dedicated to delivering suicide awareness, intervention and prevention training by empowering professionals and young adults in their own communitiies to lead suicide prevention activities. They aim to work with communities to promote good mental health among young people and those that support them.
Cancer Research UK
This is the world’s leading independent cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through research, influence and information. Their strategy is built around 4 objectives – to discover, detect, prevent, and treat – so that progress in understanding the fundamental biology of cancer leads to new prevention measures, tests and treatments.
Within this year we have been able to raise money for both charities through our House bake sale competition and non- uniform days.
We will continue to support these charities for a further academic year 2022/2023, continuing to raise awareness and support.
2020 / 2021
This academic year KWS raised awareness for the amazing work done by Save the Children. Save the Children exists to help every child reach their full potential; they work to keep children in the UK and around the world safe, healthy and learning
Throughout the year, despite the challenges faced globally, the KWS community were able to raise a fantastic £1259 for this cause through sponsorship from the Move for a Month Competition and the head students’ bake sale.
In the 2021/22 academic year, the students at KWS will vote on another fantastic cause to support and raise awareness for.
