Both our Year 7 boys’ squad and a group of Year 7/8 girls headed to the Saracens Stone X Stadium for a rugby tournament. The girls enjoyed training with some of Saracens ladies team members at the beginning, then it was straight into mixed team matches where Ellie H and Isabella H enjoyed their first taste of contact rugby. The boys were very successful, winning 3 out of 3 games and only conceding 1 try in the process. All boys played well and it was difficult to pick one stand out player. However, special mentions must go to Ethan A for a couple of last minute try saving tackles, Jesse G and Will R seemed to be involved in every attack and Tommy and Charlie S for stepping in and throwing their bodies on the line in defence and at the breakdown. As a result of this, the following students have made it into the Saracens Pathway programme:
Ethan A
Oscar C
Harry O’B
Will R
Thomas R
Jesse G
All three year groups have boys’ football fixtures coming thick and fast. Year 9 in particular had a very impressive performance on Saturday against Simon Balle School, making competition for places fierce moving forward! Special mention to Nishaan for scoring twice from centre back in a commanding performance, but the whole squad played their part. We look forward to a weekend of fixtures against SJL, as well as two football tournaments for the girls in the middle of March.
Lastly, a student from school and her brother are campaigning to help save Harpenden’s squash courts. There is also an open day on Saturday for anyone interested – please find attached the poster to help support the campaign.
