Mental wellbeing and Emotional support
PP Champion Staff member
This member of staff seeks to raise awareness and provide a voice for our pupil premium students within the school. They focus on removing barriers to learning and working with staff to support learning through pedagogical practice.
Student Support Officers
Each year group has a non-teaching student support officer who works within the pastoral team supporting students with their wellbeing needs.
Peer mentoring
Sixth form students work alongside specific students during dedicated P7 time, mentoring them through school life, offering advice and guidance around multiple areas of education. This can range from exam preparation, revision techniques, social concerns and more.
Summer school and transition support
Our new year 7’s are all invited to take part in our transition summer school over the summer break. This helps them to mix and socialise with their peers in advance of formally starting in September.
School Counsellor / External providers mentoring and support
Our counsellors provide in house support for students who need some extra help in managing their emotional wellbeing. We also have visiting practitioners who come in and do some bespoke work with students or groups of students.
School Family Support Worker
Our school family support worker supports students and their families to increase attendance and engagement in school. They also help to signpost to external agencies.
Student voice opportunities /Pupil passports
Students get an opportunity to voice their opinions and offer their suggestions via student voice pathways. This is often facilitated by the PP Champion staff member, who feeds this back to the staff body.
