Library Update
As always, the library has been very busy recently and it’s been wonderful to see how many books are being borrowed, read and enjoyed.
Last week, we had library lessons with all our Year 7 students, helping them to choose which free book they would like from our BookBuzz scheme, which is run in conjunction with the Book Trust. There is a wide range of books to choose from and it was really great to see how interested they all were in the books. They have made their choices and their new books will be coming home with them at the end of the term.
We have also been running library lessons this week for our Year 8s and have introduced them to their reading challenge. We are asking them to read a book from five different categories but there are also prizes available for those students who read five books from a category, and who complete a number of different categories. Reading regularly is proven to be great for both school work and mental health, so please do encourage them to take part.
Coming up next week, we have library lessons for our Year 9s and, in celebration of Black History Month, a lunchtime listening party based on Musical Truth, a book by Jeffrey Boakye – we can’t wait!
