KWS Sport
Athletics
Well done to all students who have represented the school so well over the course of the athletics season. Unfortunately the season was cut short due to the last 2 meets being rained off, including the District Championships.
However, at the recent county athletics championships we had a number of very impressive performances in very soggy conditions. Key performances included: Jesse G being crowned county champion for the 2nd year in a row at high jump! He has secured a spot at the English Schools Competition, which is an amazing achievement. Kiera H smashed the year 7 100m in 3rd place! Heather G came 7th in the 300m final with a PB of 46.87 sec, despite being a year younger. She also got a PB in the high jump too. Well done! Darci M won her heat and then got silver in the 200m final with a new PB despite a tough season with injury. Well done to Sophia J and Poppy D who competed in the long jump, finishing 5th and 6th respectively in the county with jumps of 4.12m and 4.31m respectively. A great effort from Ben K, who competed in the javelin. Ben threw an initial 3 throws which secured him a place in the final. He then threw another 3 with a best of 34.52m, placing him 5th in the county! A fantastic effort from all!
We look forward to the upcoming KWS Sports Day where students can showcase their sporting prowess further.
Tennis
Well done to the U13 & U14 girls’ tennis teams in their recent fixture vs SJL. The girls did themselves proud!
