Last week, the KWS Performing Arts department took a joyful leap into Shakespeare for the very first time, and what a moment it was. Our production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream played to three sold-out audiences and was met with fantastic feedback throughout its run. It was an evening of laughter, energy and magic, and a true celebration of what our students can achieve when given the space to create boldly and collaboratively.
The talent on display was extraordinary. From the confident, committed performances on stage to the calm, professional work happening behind the scenes, this production showcased the very best of KWS Performing Arts. Students gave their time, energy and creativity generously, and the result was a vibrant, ambitious production that had the audience fully engaged from start to finish.
I am especially proud of our sixth form Performing Arts students, whose leadership was central to the success of the show. Our Year 12 and 13 students stepped into key creative and production roles, leading choreography, costume design, stage management and assistant directing with maturity, confidence and care. Their work not only elevated the production artistically, but also set an inspiring example for younger students across the cast and crew.
Huge thanks must also go to the staff and volunteers who supported rehearsals, performances and backstage organisation — your time and commitment made a real difference. This production truly captured the heart of Performing Arts at KWS: inclusive, student-led, ambitious and joyful. With expectations now high and excitement building, the department continues to go from strength to strength, and I cannot wait to see what we create next.
