We are proud to have opened our new KWS Wellbeing Centre which was opened on Wednesday 14th by Joe Worseley (Ex Wasps/England Rugby Player). The gym was kindly funded by donations from the Harpenden Trust, Academia and also KWAF our Parent Teacher Association.
The gym opened with a fitness session run by Alan Cook, a fitness consultant from Challenge Life for a group of 20 students from across the school. We are delighted to have such a fantastic facility to support students’ fitness and mental health. All students will receive an induction to the gym when we return in January as part of their PE lessons and the gym will then be available for them to use after school.
There are several other thank you’s required as the gym would not have been possible without the support of Paul Crowson (Chairman of Harpenden Rovers and KWS Parent) and the team of volunteers that spent countless hours putting together gym equipment.
Head of PE, Jamie Alexander said, “This is a fantastic facility that we now have available to use and I thank very much anyone who has contributed towards funding and setting it up. The aim of the wellbeing centre is to maximise the physical activity and fitness of students to support their wellbeing. It will also be a great space for students developing their knowledge of sports science and fitness.”
Year 10 student Thea said, “It was a great experience and a good opportunity for me as a GCSE PE student to use the gym for the very first time.”
